Starting January 1, 2026, European legislation will introduce new rules regarding electronic invoicing. In Belgium, this reform means that all VAT-registered businesses will be required to issue and receive invoices in a structured electronic format, via Peppol.

This obligation aims to modernize business transactions, enhance tax transparency, and reduce VAT fraud. It is part of a broader European trend toward the full digitalization of accounting and administrative processes.
